Decarbonising the world’s energy mix means fully exploiting the potential of renewables in the power, transport and building sectors. The Global Wind Summit is where we can set the agenda for sector-coupling and electrification to plan for a cleaner, greener world.

Anja-Isabel Dotzenrath – Chief Executive Officer, E.ON Climate & Renewables

The wind industry is breaking new ground in every respect today: geographically and economically, technologically and even politically. The Global Wind Summit is where all stakeholders will gather around a unified vision for the industry, worldwide, to ensure we continue breaking new ground in the future.

Hans-Dieter Kettwig – Managing Director, Enercon

Recent years have seen rapid evolution in the wind industry. The Global Wind Summit is about harnessing all that innovation and creating new potential for wind, worldwide. Electrification and sector-coupling are two major tools for unleashing the full potential of wind energy – onshore and offshore – and I look forward to discussing this in Hamburg in September.

Philippe Kavafyan – Chief Executive Officer, MHI Vestas

New focal topics and insights at Windenergy Hamburg 2020

Hamburg Messe and Congress and WindEurope proudly present a new conference concept:

  • In Room Chicago, the high-level conference will look at the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition to a 100%-renewables-based energy system. We will discuss what needs to happen in the next decade to harness the full potential of wind power and build broad alliances to achieve climate-neutrality by 2050. The high-level conference will be more focused, with no parallel sessions and feature new formats (townhalls, deep-dives…) to increase audience engagement and interactivity for a brand new experience.
  • Electrification, Energy Storage and Power-to-X solutions will feature prominently as the missing link to succeed in the energy transition. Exhibition hall B7 will provide the “H2Insights” networking area and the “Power4Climate” stage featuring groundbreaking discussions with experts exploring future-ready solutions and business models.
  • People will be the main focus of a dedicated stage in Hall A4: “Empowering People Insights“. Topics will cover safety, cyber security and digitalisation, community engagement, jobs and skills.
  • The "Global Business Insights Stage" in Hall B1 will be organised in collaboration with GWEC, the Global Wind Energy Council. Participants will hear about market developments worldwide in a series of sessions dedicated to finance, investments and cooperation arrangements, presented by key business and political stakeholders.

Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) Update

Status: 02 April 2020

The accelerating spread of the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) has far-reaching consequences for Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH as for other businesses. A number of trade fairs and congresses had to be postponed or cancelled after the Federal Government and the heads of the German states agreed common guidelines in March to further limit social interaction in public life so as to slow the spread of the virus. As per today these guidelines will remain in effect until the middle of April 2020. However, in view of the current situation it appears very likely that these limitations will be extended beyond that time. As a consequence no Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH events will be taking place in the next weeks.

The health of visitors, exhibitors and all other trade fair or congress attendees is our top priority. We will continue watching the development closely and take appropriate action as deemed necessary to protect our customers, partners and employees.

However, at the same time we are quite busy working on the preparations for upcoming events, such as WindEnergy Hamburg which we will hold together with you at the Hamburg exhibition complex from 22 to 25 September 2020. Please stay healthy!
